Dansk triumf på Monza: Bastian Buus vinder Porsche Supercup-mesterskabet

Den danske Porsche Junior sikrede sig den prestigefyldte titel i nervepirrende afslutning på Monza, hvor et ellers sikkert ræs pludselig blev lidt for spændende.

Bastian Buus nåede karrierens foreløbige højdepunkt, da han søndag middag sikrede sig titlen i 2023-udgaven af Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Den 20-årige dansker stillede til start i sæsonfinalen med så stor en føring, at han blot skulle slutte på en 11. plads eller højere for at sikre sig mesterskabet – mens eneste trussel, hollandske Larry ten Voorde, skulle vinde løbet for at sætte sig i position til at nappe titlen.

Ikke desto mindre bød løbet på nervepirrende dramatik fra start, idet Bastian Buus blev kørt af banen på anden omgang og sendt ned bagest i feltet. Samtidig kæmpede hans hollandske rival sig helt frem på en andenplads, hvilket betød, at mesterskabet nu var godt og grundigt i fare. Mens Buus forsøgte at vinde terræn igen, måtte teamkammeraten Harry King arbejde hårdt for at forsvare sin føring i løbet og dermed også Buus’ mesterskab – hvilket heldigvis lykkedes.

– Jeg er lykkelig! Kan slet ikke beskrive det. Min plan for dette løb var at holde mig udenfor problemer og køre mesterskabet sikkert hjem, og pludselig sker der alt dét, som ikke må ske! Det blev ret intenst, men heldigvis sluttede det hele godt, blandt andet takket være suverænt arbejde af min teamkammerat, Harry King. At vinde mesterskabet har været vores altoverskyggende mål siden min debut i Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup sidste år. Det er ret følelsesladet, og jeg skal lige sunde mig. Bastian Buus er blot den anden dansker, efter landsmanden Nicki Thiim, som har sikret sig det benhårde Supercup-mesterskab siden dets begyndelse i 1993. Og den nye titel – som kommer året efter, at Buus tog rookietitlen i Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – er helt i tråd med ambitionerne hos den unge dansker, som sidste år blev udnævnt som officiel Porsche Junior af den berømte tyske sportsvognsfabrik.
